Montessori of Macon School Breaks Ground

Macon, Georgia

On Saturday, April 25th, 2009, Montessori of Macon broke ground on its new school. Chris R. Sheridan & Co. was selected as the contractor, and the company has been working with the school on site selection and other pre-construction items for three years.

Tanya Melville, Headmaster, in a note to the company, stated, “Your love and support of our school and its mission to ‘Educate the whole child for a whole world’ is deeply felt and appreciated."

The firm worked with the school and its architect, Tinsley Matthews, on an extensive basis to get as much school as possible for the funds available and to help design a building that would “show off its innards” so the children could see what goes inside the walls.

It is entirely appropriate that at the ground breaking, the children broke the ground. The whole firm will get a chance to participate in the education process, as the company works with the school's teachers to teach construction classes.

These "classes" will continue right through to the school's July completion date. The ground breaking was April 18,  which makes for a very aggressive schedule.

Chris R. Sheridan & Co. is honored to have such a close relationship with Montessori of Macon, and everyone taking part in the project is looking forward to building a building as well as characters, personalities, and minds of the wonderful children shown in the accompanying photos.
